Egypt - 4 Day Itinerary Of Cairo, Giza, Fayoum & Alexandria.
Giving you an insight in to all the things we did, saw, loved and the things we didn't like so much.

I'll start this one by telling you that seeing the pyramids has been a dream of mine since I was a child. I've always been fascinated by ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. As I ticked off the The Acropolis and the Coliseum in 2023 I had to tick the Pyramids off my list early 2024, so what better Birthday present to give Clare than tickets to Tenerife and Egypt!
We flew from London Luton with Wizz air on February 2nd 2024. So as expected with any cheap commercial flight, it was delayed 🙄 🤣 Only by an hour so not the end of the world. When we arrived in to the new Sphinx International Airport we immediately in awe at some of the decor on the walls. These consisted of tomb-like depictions and hieroglyphs. We already bought our E-visas before hand and only bring hand luggage so leaving the airport was pretty quick. We were met outside by a driver sent by our Airbnb host Mo Jimmy. On the way to our accommodation we were shocked to see the streets filled with dogs, people on horses, camels and crazy drivers. I will state 3 things from here before I tell you all of the amazing things we saw and experienced in Egypt.
1. Our host, hotel staff, drivers and tour guide were extremely friendly, helpful and I can't recommend them enough.
2. Egypt as a whole is incredible and the landmarks we visitited definitely lived up to our expectations.
3. Cairo and Giza certainly are not for everyone. Even though we were assured that it was safe, there were armed police everywhere and even with me being an MMA fighter who's more than capable of protecting Clare in any circumstance, she still felt uneasy a lot of the time we were out in public. The constant harassment, following, staring and shouting at from strangers trying to get money from us really didn't help that either.
As we checked in at 10pm, our original plan was to visit the pyramids and spynhx the following day and then rent a car to venture to other destinations. But after seeing the chaos on the roads of Cairo and Giza, we decided not to. When we checked in we were offered the choice to book all the things we wanted to do and see with a private driver and tour guide, so that's what we did. Here is how our itinerary looked:
Day One - Giza:
Roof top breakfast.
Private tour to the great Pyramids of Giza.
Great Sphinx.
Papyrus museum.
Sakkara
Memphis, King Ramesis II Statue.
ATV sunset sand dune adventure with Pyramids view.
Day Two - Cairo:
Prince Muhammad Ali Palace.
Nile River.
Egyptian Museum.
El Zohriya Botanical Garden.
Day Three - Fayoum:
Private tour To El Rayan National Park.
Ancient whale museum.
Lake view point.
Tea and relax at magic lake.
Waterfalls.
Day 4 - Alexandria
Private tour to African safari park.
Dinner at oldest restaurant in Alexandria.
Fly back to the UK.
I could spend hours explaining every detail of all of these amazing adventures but I know most people don't have the attention span for that so I'll tell you our favourite parts and the thing's we didn't like.
Best bit's:
1. Obviously the Pyramids. Absolutely incredible. It felt surreal to stand on and touch the ancient wonders.
2. Our private 4x4 adventure through El Rayan National Park in Fayoum is one of the best things we have done on any holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire day and cannot recommend it enough. If you'd like to book the same private tour, contact Ahmed here.
3. Our hotel was beautiful, we had the best view possible from our window of the great Pyramids and Spynhx. Being able to lay on our bed or in the bath in direct view of them was amazing. Our host Mo was very helpful and friendly. His mum prepared a delicious fresh Egyptian breakfast for us every morning consisting of homemade pittas, banana jam, beans, and vegetables. He'd found my Instagram and invited Clare and I to the roof one evening for home made lemon and mint drinks and ordered us a take away while we sat in view of of the Pyramids for a few hours and talked about travelling, relationships and life. At one point he asked me why I plan so many surprises and adventures for Clare and I looked at Clare and answered without hesitation "because she's the love of my life, she deserves it". We had a great time and I'm sure we'll keep in touch on Instagram. You can book with Jimmy Pyramid View here.
Worst bits:
1. Harassment. People don't really have 'boundaries' here. We had groups of 10-18 year old kids following us to take selfie with me. I don't know who they thought I was 🤣 maybe it's just my tattoos etc. Also men shouting comments to me about being lucky and clare being beautiful.
2. Tips. Everyone wants money from you for absolutely anything. Even things you've already payed for like tours, taxis, food etc, everyone wants a tip. One man tried to scare us in to crossing the road with him so we'd pay him 🤣
3. Cruelty. People are not nice to animals here. Walking around the streets of Cairo and Giza you will see people hitting, kicking and whipping their horses and camels. We also went to a safari park where keepers were shouting at and waving a metal rod at multiple animals. Kids were hitting and kicking the large tortoises and were very rough with small rabbits and stray puppies. I shouted at a teenage boy at the park as a monkey had escaped it's enclosure and climbed up a tree and the boy was throwing stones at the monkey and laughing with his friends. As an animal lover it's really not nice to see.
4. Dangerous driving. The roads of Cairo and Giza are crazy. People swerving in and out of each other, tuctucs almost hitting people and cars, horses and camels om the highways. It's crazy.
Would we recommend Egypt? Yes 100%, it's such a beautiful place with incredible history, just be prepared 🤣
